Editorial Book Review:

By Marcos Buttler

From the first page, this honest look into the startup world caught my attention. There are good times and bad times when you're building a business. This book takes you on a journey that's not all fun and games. The thing I liked most about the author was that they didn't downplay the problems that come with working in a company. Instead, they gave an honest look at how hard it can be on people's minds and emotions. It felt real, even terribly real, and helped me understand the pressures that many entrepreneurs are under.

What I found particularly compelling was the focus on the life-and-death stakes that often accompany such high-risk ventures. The story isn't just about business choices and growth plans; it's also about the personal sacrifices and turning points that make up a founder's journey. The emotional depth of this book makes it stand out from others in the startup field. It talks about things like burnout, identity, and how to stay healthy in a world that puts speed and success above all else.

The author's vulnerability in sharing their personal experience made the book feel incredibly intimate. It was as if they were pulling back the curtain on not just the mechanics of a startup, but the emotional, often isolating realities behind it. What the author says about the ups and downs of happiness, doubt, and tiredness is both sobering and educational. I liked how the story didn't praise the "hustle" culture. Instead, it showed how important balance and knowing yourself are when you're trying to be successful.

There were times when I felt like I was right there with the author, going through their problems, successes, and battles. This book doesn't just give entrepreneurs useful tips; it also helps them understand how to keep their minds strong during such a fast-paced and unpredictable trip. Self-compassion and the idea that success isn't just about the bottom line—it's about being true to yourself while building something important were the things that spoke to me the most.

This book is for anyone who has ever dreamed of launching their own business or is already in the trenches. It offers not only lessons in entrepreneurship but also a reminder that it’s okay to be human in the process.

He holds a BA in Economics and Mathematics from Claremont McKenna College, including studies at King's College in England and the London School of Economics.
