Editorial Book Review:

By Richard Stones

This book by Jennifer Snow is fun and fast-paced. It's about two people who meet and fall in love. It's based on the well-known story of two people who hate each other but fall in love. A story is told about a life coach named Hailey Harris. She deceitfully benefits her clients by looking into the future. Although Hailey is supposed to be able to see things more clearly thanks to her supernatural skill, she finds it difficult to maintain intimate relationships since it makes her feel alone, suspicious, and like a fraud.

When Hailey's ex-boyfriend Liam arrives to Malibu with his new fiancée, Sonia, an affluent and endearing heiress, the plot takes flight. Hailey is shocked to learn that she must organize their engagement celebration even though she believes their marriage will fail. Hailey, torn between jealousy, love, and a moral predicament, sets out on a ridiculous quest to ruin their wedding and stop their coming heartbreak.

Enter Warren Mitchell, Liam’s best man and Hailey’s high school rival, who adds a fiery layer to the story. Warren and Hailey's teasing adds much-needed comedy and romantic tension to the story, since the two must cooperate despite their dislike for one another. Their animosity and smoldering passion quickly develop into a traditional enemies-to-lovers dynamic in which both characters oppose the views and behaviors of the other.

While Snow’s signature wit shines through, the novel’s pacing can feel chaotic at times, especially as the romantic and supernatural elements vie for attention. Hailey’s attempts to meddle in the future and control fate spiral out of control, resulting in comedic yet disjointed scenarios. Although intriguing, the magical realism element occasionally overshadows the character-driven romance, making the reader long for a more concentrated story.

All Signs Point to Malibu, however, is a fun, quick book that will interest readers who enjoyed In Five Years and My Best Friend's Wedding. Snow is a fascinating addition to the enemies-to-lovers and second-chance romance genres because of its deft handling of complex relationships, funny language, and emotional stakes that keep readers captivated.
