Editorial Book Review:
By Morgan Smith
Reading Kit Erikson's Better Than Sex was a thrilling and unexpectedly emotional experience. On the surface, it looks to be a steamy romance with sharp wit and burning chemistry, but it is really about vulnerability, transformation, and the power of connection. The story hooks you with its fun premise—a confident man taking on the role of "mentor" to someone inexperienced—but what kept me interested were the deeper elements of self-discovery and emotional growth. The author expertly combines humor and fire with genuine introspection that feels real and accessible.
I was really interested in how the book cleared up common misunderstandings about love and closeness. It talks about self-worth, trust, and how hard it can be to let go of ideas you have about how life and love should be, without avoiding the complicated parts of relationships. Because the characters are real and flawed, their adventures are all the more interesting. I found myself cheering them on at every point as I watched them negotiate their feelings and desires in a refreshingly honest way.
The writing is smart and evocative, filled with sharp dialogue and scenes that leap off the page. It's the type of novel that skillfully combines heart and comedy, making you laugh one minute and think deeply the next. The vivid energy of the San Francisco backdrop perfectly reflects the story's highs and lows, adding an additional depth of appeal.
Better Than Sex's examination of what it really means to be open—not just with other people, but also with oneself—was, in my opinion, its high point. It serves as a reminder that love, in all its chaotic, lovely forms, is worth the risk and that being vulnerable is not a sign of weakness but rather a strength. The primary characters have an electrifying dynamic, but what really sticks out is how their relationship forces them to develop as individuals.
This book isn’t just a romance—it’s a celebration of self-discovery, second chances, and the courage it takes to rewrite your story. Better Than Sex is an excellent choice whether you're searching for a passionate examination of intimacy, a spicy escape, or both. I can't recommend this story enough; it will make you laugh, swoon, and possibly cry.
