Editorial Book Review:
By Matt Dawson
Tara Hodgson's Chasing Through Time transports readers to a world in which time becomes a significant factor in the lives of young heroes. The story follows a group of high school pals who discover a magical artifact that permits them to travel through time. What starts as a joyful expedition gradually turns into a journey of self-discovery, questioning their perceptions of reality, friendship, and their own identities. With each time leap, the stakes rise as the friends face their pasts and futures, all while attempting to maintain control over the unpredictable power they've discovered.
Every single character in the story is quite developed and offers their own special feelings. Their relationships change as they negotiate the special effects of their time-traveling skills as well as the usual teenage pressures. Apart from exploring subjects like love, death, and the inevitable character of change, Hodgson does a great job of analyzing how these changes in time affect the emotional condition of the people.
This book stands out from others in that it deftly balances fast-paced action with character moments that call for reflection. Hodgson writes a story that not only keeps readers on the brink of their seats but also makes them rather sympathetic to the heroes. She does this by weaving these components together in a seamless manner. The descriptions of the settings, whether they are in the past or the future, are quite detailed, which gives the impression that the time travel part is founded in reality despite the fact that it is fantasy.
For fans of young adult literature and time-bending adventures, Chasing Through Time is a thought-provoking look at how time shapes, challenges, and ultimately defines who we are. It's an intriguing, poignant read for everyone who's ever wished they could go back in time or see what's coming.
