Editorial Book Review:

By Sonia Thomas

A lot of books about artificial intelligence either try to scare you or drown you in technical language. Evolve: Leveraging Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Technologies to Enable Superhuman Capabilities goes somewhere else entirely. It pushes the idea that AI isn’t just another tool sitting on your desk, it’s something that reshapes how you think, decide, and even express ideas. That angle alone makes it hard to ignore.

Reading it feels like your usual way of looking at technology gets nudged out of place. I found myself catching little assumptions I didn’t even know I had, especially the idea that humans and machines are separate lanes. The book keeps pulling those lanes together. Some sections feel big and a bit abstract, almost like you’re zooming out too far, but then a line or example brings it back and makes it click again.

It keeps circling around collaboration, not in a corporate buzzword way, but in a deeper sense of what happens when thinking itself becomes shared between human and machine. That idea doesn’t stay inside tech. It touches how people adapt to change, how they resist it, and what happens when they stop trying to stay in control of everything. The focus on language as the bridge makes it feel more human than expected.

Sharon Daniels writes with a kind of steady confidence that doesn’t feel forced. It’s not trying to impress you with complexity, even when the ideas get large. The structure builds more like a shift in perspective than a step by step guide. At times it feels broad, like it’s covering a lot at once, but that actually fits the message it’s trying to land.

By the end, it doesn’t feel like you’ve learned a new skill. It feels like you’ve been asked to reconsider where you stand in all of this. It’s worth reading if you’re open to letting go of the idea that AI is just a tool and seeing it as something that changes the way you think altogether.
