4 STAR REVIEW
Book Description
Greta Gar Bitch is the true story of a young girl growing up in a family with extreme dysfunction. Enduring daily physical and emotional abuse that was fueled by her Kimber's mothers addictions to alcohol, sex, and drugs. The severity of abuse caused two of the four youngest children in her family to commit suicide( as their only way out) six months apart from the other. Another six months later the mother committed a form of suicide by ingesting a gallon of vodka a day along with a variety of prescription medications. When the mother’s body could no longer keep up with this cycle of drinking and drugging, her death left this family in their darkest hours.
At the tender age of seven Kimber Leigh listened to the stories told to her by her grandfather about the famed Hollywood actress from the 1930s, Greta Garbo. Kimber’s grandfather said, “You are going to be just like her when you grow up." When Kimber shared his words with her mother her mother’s reply was, “Sweetheart you will never be anything but a BITCH... a Greta Gar BITCH!” Kimber’s life was left in turmoil after years of suffering physical, sexual, and emotional abuse at the hands of her mother and others. This book reveals what turned Kimber’s life around, so she was able to lead a life of miracles, peace, love, and forgiveness. These experiences taught Kimber how to understand the "game of life" leading her to find true love, while witnessing endless miracles along her life’s long journey. This book will give you a step by step detailed plan on how YOU can live a miraculous life. People will witness your personal growth and say, "Wow"!
According to Mark Victor Hansen, Best Selling Author of the series, "Chicken Soup for the Soul" these are his words of endorsement:
An Exciting, Compelling, True Story, of a young child beaten everyday by an alcoholic mother who committed suicide followed by the suicide of her two brothers. As a woman, Kimber suffered unbelievable tragedies spiritually, emotionally, physically and financially. However, she pulled herself up by fantastic personal discipline to a happy life and lifestyle. Her book shows a step by step plan to that the reader can copy each step.
Editorial Review
That Kimber Leigh survived her childhood to become a flight attendant, model, actress, author, and movie producer is a miracle. Her success is also miraculous given the burden she carried as the daughter of an alcoholic.
But survive she did and learned to thrive despite the negative circumstances she found herself in.
Leigh, author of "Greta Gar Bitch," was one of several children of a man who worked three jobs to support his family and a woman who could barely take care of herself. The title of the book comes from her mother. When a young Leigh returns from a visit with her grandparents, she rushes into her home and tells her mother that her grandfather said she could be like Greta Garbo, a famous actress. Her mother says no, she's a Greta Gar Bitch.
The mother eventually ran away from the family, leaving her husband to care for the children himself while also working to put food on the table. His wife was found in a hotel room having drunk herself to death.
What is amazing and is a testament to Leigh's "Unsinkable Molly Brown" attitude, is that when she talks about her mother in the book, she shows compassion for her. Many people would have used the worst terms to talk about her or would not have talked about her at all.
Leigh's trauma continued when two of her brothers also committed suicide. She is later abandoned by another male in her life, her common-law husband who moved out when she was away on a business trip.
Although the book description talks about a childhood full of mental, physical, and sexual abuse, this is not directly discussed except that it happened. The result is an uplifting book despite horrendous facts behind it. Her writing style is very "folksy" as she seeks to uplift her readers and help them succeed in their lives.
What saves Leigh throughout her life and gives her strength is what she calls "the Light." She experiences this joy and purpose as a child and never forgets it. She is very God focused, which has helped her succeed in business and in life.
I highly recommend "Greta Gar Bitch" to readers who are stuck in a life of misery and are looking for a way out. Kimber Leigh leads the way with the Light.
