Julie Shaw is a Certified Yoga Therapist with over 25 years of experience helping individuals find healing and resilience through the transformative power of yoga. Her journey began in 1988, long before yoga pants became mainstream, when a long corporate commute left her with chronic back pain. Searching for relief, she looked up "yoga" in the Yellow Pages and stepped into what would become a lifelong practice.
Over time, Julie discovered Viniyoga and began studying under Gary Kraftsow, Director of the American Viniyoga Institute™. This lineage of yoga, rooted in the teachings of Krishnamacharya, resonated deeply with her, emphasizing the adaptation of yoga to meet each individual's unique needs. Her training includes a broad foundation in anatomy, physiology, emotional health, and spirituality, integrating both Eastern and Western approaches to wellness.
Throughout her career, Julie has offered therapeutic yoga to individuals coping with a wide range of conditions, including structural pain, fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, anxiety, depression, sleep issues, and more. Her compassionate and personalized approach has also supported those seeking to maintain vitality and connect to their deeper sense of self.
In 2019, Julie faced her own health crisis with a breast cancer diagnosis. Drawing on decades of yoga experience, she became her own yoga therapist.
