Editorial Book Review:
By Marcos Buttler
It's very interesting to read a book that looks at how cultures change through stories, and this one does that very well. It made a subject that is usually full of words feel approachable, real, and, most importantly, doable. It doesn't just list strategies or give you dry business theory; instead, it immerses you in a story that brings the complicated issues of company culture to life and makes them seem important. It was a way of doing things that helped me really understand the subject.
The most interesting thing to me was how the author used a "Culture Creature" to describe how the group works on the inside. I understood that culture isn't just something that "is"; it changes over time, needs care, and can be very uncertain. This simple but powerful idea helped me see this. The story does a great job of showing how culture can be changed by both small, everyday actions and big, top-down choices made by leaders. Because the book gave culture such colorful personalities, it was easy to picture and understand how big changes in culture can happen.
There are also new ways to look at leadership and the normal ways of changing society in this book. It emphasizes how important it is to connect with the society rather than making changes from the top down or using business speak. It's about starting talks, asking for feedback, and making connections that build trust and openness. The lessons here don't seem so much like abstract ideas as they do like a road map for making lasting changes in the real world.
Another interesting thing about the story was how it included useful advice. It's one thing to understand how important it is to change culture; this book goes one step further by giving you real-world answers. Leaders can use the activities and insights to look at their company's culture and start pushing change in a real way.
If you’re looking to lead an organization through a meaningful cultural shift, this book is invaluable. It doesn’t just tell you why culture matters—it shows you how to make it matter, with clarity, heart, and real-world relevance. It’s a compelling read for anyone in leadership or anyone interested in the human side of organizational change.
