Editorial Book Review:
By LD Clarke
Miles In Time: A YA Time Travel Mystery, written by Lee Matthew Goldberg, is a captivating combination of thrilling adventure, scientific intrigue, and youthful curiosity. Goldberg creates a narrative that is both thought-provoking and engaging, appealing to readers who appreciate mysteries with speculative elements, as seen through the perspective of 14-year-old Miles Hardy.
Goldberg writes in a way that makes time travel seem natural while also capturing the essence of life in a small town. It is both detailed and easy to understand. The story moves along at a steady pace, keeping things interesting and suspenseful as Miles keeps looking into how his brother died and how a time machine was found. The story's emotional resonance is enhanced by the author's capacity to connect personal loss with the broader implications of time travel.
The central themes of the novel revolve around the pursuit of knowledge, the ethical dilemmas associated with scientific advancements, and the bonds of family. Miles's journey isn't just about solving a mystery; it's also about facing the duties that come with his newfound knowledge and strength. These ideas are especially important now, when technological progress often happens faster than we can understand how it will affect things.
The book offers a series of emotional experiences that simulate a rollercoaster. As Miles navigates the challenges of adolescence, loss, and the weight of his brother's legacy, readers will be inclined to lend him their support. The intellectual stimulation provided by the time travel elements encourages readers to reflect on the ethical implications of altering timelines and the complexities of causality.
In summary, Miles In Time is a must-read for young adults and those who are still young at heart and appreciate a well-crafted mystery that incorporates elements of science fiction. Readers are not only entertained but also encouraged to reflect on the story's more profound implications, as Goldberg's narrative is both intellectually stimulating and entertaining.
