In Your Life: On Building a Family Business and Leaving a Legacy, the indomitable spirit of Larry and Sharon Carrico leaps off the pages, offering readers a captivating narrative that transcends the boundaries of time and circumstance. Hailing from Illinois, their roots are firmly embedded in a community that values hard work and collective well-being, values instilled in them by their diligent parents.
Their upbringing laid the groundwork for their unyielding dedication to family and community. Both Larry and Sharon appeared to be bought up with the unwavering belief that showing up and giving one's best were non-negotiable principles. These very tenets would go on to shape Larry and Sharon's extraordinary journey, where resilience and determination would lead to the establishment of several thriving businesses. Among these stands Rent One, a testament to their vision, now employing hundreds of Americans and catering to the needs of a vast clientele.
However, the Carricos' story is not just one of entrepreneurial success. It is a story of giving back, of channelling their prosperity into the betterment of the communities they touch. The Great Expectation Foundation, founded by Larry and Sharon, stands as a beacon of hope and empowerment, leaving a legacy of positive change for generations to come.
Yet, amid their business ventures and philanthropic endeavours, Larry and Sharon remain grounded in the importance of love and family. Their children were raised in an environment that cherished the values of generosity and community engagement, creating a ripple effect of goodwill that extends far beyond their immediate sphere.
Adding a personal touch to their narrative, we learn of the couple's shared love for travel, their mutual appreciation for the written word, and the cherished moments spent with their grandchildren. These details serve to humanise the Carricos, revealing a couple whose success is not only measured in monetary terms but also in the intangible, yet invaluable, joys of life.
Your Life: On Building a Family Business and Leaving a Legacy is not merely a story; it is an inspiration. It stands as a powerful reminder that with unwavering dedication, a strong sense of community, and a spirit of generosity, dreams are not only achievable, but they can also leave an indelible mark on the world. Larry and Sharon Carrico's remarkable journey is a beacon of hope, urging us all to believe in the enduring power of the American Dream. Theirs is a story that will resonate with readers for years to come, reminding us that the human spirit, when fuelled by passion and purpose, knows no bounds.

About the Author
Larry Carrico
Larry has spent a lifetime helping others achieve greater success. He’s been dedicated to building his rent-to-own business for almost 40 years and consistently shows up for others. Since 1985, with a great team effort, he’s grown operations from one store to over 100, franchised 11 wheel/tire locations, and built a real estate division within the company.
Over the years, Larry has developed a passion for community service and educating others on the value of giving back. He takes pride in an extensive record of helping others get what they want, and his primary goal is to be effective in bettering communities and lives; in other words, to spend time where it makes a real difference.
Larry thrives most when he is providing—whether that’s clean clothes or cold milk to clients in the rent-to-own stores, fried fish, a tractor ride, or pulling a tube behind a boat—he is always doing it with a smile and a thumbs up. He loves to tell a good story to any who will listen. According to his family, Larry’s favorite things to do are read books to his grandkids, play senior baseball, leaf blow, and hike with his wife, Sharon.
Above all his accomplishments, Larry holds success as a family man above all the rest and is most proud of his 40-year marriage, his three children, and five grandchildren.

About the Author
Sharon Carrico
Currently retired, Sharon has worn many hats in business and in life. With a major in Hospital Dietetics, her career began in Institutional Food Service Management and underwent untold twists and turns after she and her husband became entrepreneurs in their mid-twenties. She learned accounting and bookkeeping, inventory control, computer technology, and human resources as their Rent One store and employee count grew. Eventually, Sharon would become a co-managing partner in Imagery Marketing, learning more new skills and coordinating the efforts of a team of highly talented professionals.
Aside from her work life, Sharon has found joy over the years, in giving back by volunteering, especially in her church community. She has returned to school multiple times in her life, always eager to feed a hunger for knowledge that can't seem to be quenched. Classes in English, Theology, and Cooking always top the list.
Her most important role, however, has been as a wife and mom; roles that changed through the years, but are anchored in her core belief that a strong family, with unconditional love, is a reflection of God's greatest gifts.
The last several years have called for her to wear the hat of caregiver, as she walks with aging parents and five new grandchildren in their uniquely needful times. Most recently she has been gifted time to explore old hobbies: running, hiking, reading, and writing. She especially enjoys time spent with friends and family at their mountain (MT) and lake (IL) homes, showing anyone who will join them, the glory of time spent outdoors (and around a dinner table).
