Editorial Book Review:

By SM Harrison

At first glance, The First Robot President: A Dystopian Adventure stands out because of its strangely plausible premise: a robot is running for president of the United States. Smart, brave, and full of surprises, Robert Carlyle Taylor's stories are great. His way of doing this is by writing both sharp political satire and imaginative science fiction. It's fun to read this book, and it also makes you think about ethics, leadership, and how technology might change society in ways you can't see coming.

When I read it, it makes me laugh, feel tense, and think. A lot of people laugh at the silly parts of Taylor's story and wonder how it will end. Some people also think about how these things happen in real life. It makes people think about what is right and wrong, their goals, and how important it is to connect with others, even in a world run by machines. Even though Esmeralda is a robot, she makes her rise to power seem real and interesting.

The book is mostly about power, responsibility, and how people use technology. It's funny, but it also makes you think about more important things, like right and wrong, making decisions, and being responsible in society. Taylor shows that ethics and goals have an impact on everyone, no matter when the story takes place.

Taylor’s writing is lively, witty, and paced to maintain tension and humor. Politics, character-driven moments, and silly, funny set pieces are all well-balanced in a way that keeps the reader entertained and thinking. Some readers might find it hard to keep up with the fast pace and heavy political references, but this makes the satire stronger and shows how clever the story is.

Some of the most interesting parts of the book are Esmeralda's sharp campaign speeches, her surprising moral insights, and the strange political debates that were set up like reality TV shows. Many people enjoy The First Robot President because it is both a funny and serious look at leadership, ethics, and how technology changes our world. It is a book that you will think about for a long time after you finish reading it. This book is smart, funny, and easy to remember.

About the Author

Robert Carlyle Taylor

Robert Carlyle Taylor, also known as Bob Taylor, was born and educated in New England. His parents were both teachers, and he developed an interest in literature at an early age. Although he aspired to be a writer, he put that ambition aside for a stable job, first in retailing, then in banking, and finally in the Federal government. He retired from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) in 2018 after a forty-year career that included nineteen years in SBA’s headquarters in Washington, D.C., and ten years as SBA’s Area Director for Government Contracting in Fort Worth, Texas. The First Robot President is his first published novel.
