Editorial Book Review:

By Matt Dawson

Set against the bright and bustling backdrop of Mumbai, Scott Delaney's The Tiger's Eye: Angels in Mumbai takes readers on an enthralling journey that mixes mystery, spirituality, and adventure. Delaney's ability to blend the real with the supernatural in a way that was both intriguing and grounded drew me in from the first chapter. The book's ability to skillfully blend gripping action with profound meditations on faith and fate made it more than just a thriller; it was a heartfelt and meaningful tale. This is what I loved most about it.

The plot centers around a mysterious artifact—the Tiger’s Eye—that holds the potential to change lives, but not without consequences. One thing that really stuck with me was how Delaney transformed this object into a symbol of sacrifice, hope, and the mysterious forces at play in the world, rather than just a plot device. In their search for knowledge, our heroes face weighty issues regarding morality, the nature of God's hand in history, and the limits of human faith.Subtly integrated into the narrative, these themes never felt forced; still, they prompted me to reflect on my own views on the unexplainable and otherworldly.

Delaney’s portrayal of Mumbai adds a rich layer to the narrative. Through his vivid descriptions, I felt transported to the vibrant streets of the city, experiencing its rhythms, its colors, and its contrasts firsthand. The spiritual undertones are heightened by the cultural setting, and I was moved by the way the characters’ struggles reflect universal themes of redemption, hope, and resilience. The otherworldly components and the city's energy give the plot a depth of atmosphere that is uncommon in thrillers.

One of the most impactful aspects of The Tiger's Eye was how it manages to be both a fast-paced adventure and a soulful exploration of life’s bigger questions. Delaney's writing invited me to consider fate, meaning, and the secrets of faith while nevertheless keeping me on the tip of my seat. This is a cerebral, intriguing, and emotionally powerful story that sticks with you long beyond the last page, not only an action-packed one. To anyone who appreciates thrillers with a spiritual bent and a culturally rich environment, I would most highly suggest it.
